Ritz-Carlton Resort on Lake Nottely?
The local Realtor rumor mill now has Ritz-Carlton eying a new resort on Lake Nottely. You may recall that they were supposedly looking to put a place on Lake Blue Ridge, but that mutated into a Holiday Inn or Sheraton or something, that then vaporized into nothing.
I haven’t spent a lot of time on or around Nottely but from what I’ve seen it just doesn’t have the wow-factor of LBR, probably because it’s a shallower lake and the TVA’s fluctuations are much more noticeable. If this rumor becomes reality, that’s sure to change; year round high water has to be the contingency for the Ritz and that lake.
I admit I was selfishly ambivalent about it happening on LBR: am I happy with the current JetSki population or would trading relative calm be worth the luxury of a year round full pool and cocktail-cruising the boat over to the Ritz for dinner and drinks? However, if I had a place on Lake Nottely (worth speculating if this is true) I’d be giddy about it.
UPDATE 3/29: a Blairsville source says it’s a done deal; they’re closing on it next month. The Ritz reportedly acquired over a thousand acres and the TVA’s promise of a year round full pool on Lake Nottely. But what about the need to drop for “flood control”, lol? May be time to bust open my piggy bank and do a little looking on Lake Nottely. Lake Nottely web cam?
