Petition regarding beer and wine sales in restaurants

There’s a petition floating around town regarding restaurants and the beer & wine served by-the-drink laws. My wife signed it at Out of the Blue (great wine/champagne selection) yesterday.

Turns out it is the petition for (business owners only?…waiting on a phone call) to get the referendum on the ballot, BUT the county commissioners have to approve it. It’s a way to go over the city council’s heads or something I’m told. More when I find out.

I got my grubby paws on the petition. It’s for business owners only but not a bad approach if you think about it. I know several business owners that have pulled up stakes and left town for this issue alone. Perhaps we need a previous and would-have-been business owners’ petition as well.
