Catch Friday’s Community section of The News Observer?

OK this is ballet/art and I think it’s great, but I still can’t believe it made-it-to-press in our little local paper. Heck, growing up in the ATL, I didn’t second-glance it until my 3rd time reading (there’s only an A & B section) of the paper.

On the ‘Community’ front page, right above the ladies quilting photo and a quote from the bible is, at-glance, a beautiful ballet photo. But when recalling your place in the bible belt, the strike-the-pose, where the guy’s hand is, the, ahem, sheerness of her costume, the looks on their faces, wow.

They have to have had a few inquiries on the matter. I’m saving this edition, Leno, Letterman? Meh, I guess you kind of have to live here to get it, but this is bar-none the edgiest photo I’ve seen in over 8 years of reading the BR paper. Even if I could get permission to reprint the photo here, I probably wouldn’t for fear of the local backlash. However, you can grab the paper intown before this Tuesday’s edition is circulated over it.

Will they print the op-eds they’ve received on this in Tuesday’s edition? Is BR finally growing up a bit or was this an ‘oops’? By even noticing, am I abandoning the sense of culture that my Atlanta kindergarten, elementary, high school, and college professors instilled into me?
