Downtown cam is back in town
After a 6+ month hiatus, the downtown cam makes a comeback. I’ll be adding more and better shots soon. It didn’t turn out exactly as I wanted it. I had to mount it a little lower than optimal because of overhead wires. If I mounted it above the wiring, the wires would show up in most of the shots. Therefore, I catch the top of the enclosure on pans that need to mostly point upwards.
Nonetheless, an hour or two pinpointing the shots/zooms should work quite nicely. Perhaps down the road we can move it up or upgrade to an enclosure with better upward-angle view. You can see photos of the installation here.
Don’t forget to watch the cam during the Mountain Adventure Race on April 12, 2008. The Aska cam should catch the starting line and the downtown cam should hopefully capture some of the finish. I’ll be manning the cams on race day in an attempt to provide the best possible shots.
Very pleased to see the downtown web cam working.
Thank you
Kip, thanks much - this new location is great. Glad to see the webcam up and running again.
Hi Kip! The downtown webcam is wonderful! We’re so glad to have it back! I have shared it with our neighbors that, like us, are not full timers there yet, and also to folks that have stayed at our cabin. ALL of your webcams are wonderful and we thank you very much for them and all the efforts to make them happen. And another thanks for keeping that birdcam stocked with food….I enjoy watching the birds (and other critters) as a screensaver when I am at work and not using the computer for other tasks. You must go through tons of food! (Tom’s “Birdman’s Blend is the greatest! And a plug too to the “Sky Cafe” birdfeeder…we love the ones we got!) It was nice to meet you when you came to our cabin, and we hope to see you again soon. Thank you again, and to all those that have helped with all the webcams too!
Thank you Lynne & Dennis!
Hey Eric & Terri! Thanks! As I’m sure you’re aware the birds are getting expensive with freight costs but I have a parental responsibility now. I bought a Bluebird house w/ a mini nightvision cam from Tom & Sonja, so hopefully it will get some action and I can broadcast some adorable bitching babies.
Great to hear from you guys again. Give me a shout when you’re in town.
Kip,
All the cams are looking good.My wife and I really appreciate the effort you and everyone else involved put in all of this. Its great to see all of Blue Ridge. We have property there and hopefully someday in the not to distant future it will be our home.
Hi there! I love the webcam! I am going to look at it everyday until I move up your way! I Love Fannin County and I am looking at a house in Mineral Bluff! I live in Bradenton Florida and I hate it. I am sick of the crime and the drugs. I am honored to be moving to a so called”Bible Belt”. Do not let any one try and change your town!!! Tha’ts why I am moving up your way! I am a single mom and a writer. I also home school my nine year old son. I am spending every dime I have to make this work! Your web cam will keep me inspired unti lthe first week of June!
Looking forward to seeing your awesome country!!! Be Blessed!
Our family checks in on the webcam often. We miss Blue Ridge when we are not visiting up there. This morning was an overwhelming, “Oh, no! What is going on with downtown?”. Maybe you could fill us in as we love visiting the downtown area.
My husband and I (along with granddaughter and 2 Bichon’s) visited Blue Ridge during
the week of Thanksgiving. It was our first visit to the area and first time staying in a cabin! The people of Blue Ridge have a real treasure and we enjoyed our stay so much.
We live in Jacksonville, FL and get tired of the rat race here. People are rude and
the traffic is terrible. Visiting Blue Ridge was such a nice change!
I LOVE this web cam and visit often on the site …….we can’t wait to return for a visit
and would LOVE to live there!
Blue Ridge……U R the BEST!
ok, how do I get to it? Do I need to get rid of my old cam sight and add a new site
